                            Rajma masala/Red kidney bean masla

                       This is my kids favourite dish.If im serving with ghee smeared chapathi he will finish it soon.My neighbour used to give this one to my kid who is always waiting for Aunty's Rajma masala.Finally i decided to study and try this dish.Red kidney beans is highly rich in fiber and vitamin K.Hope you all will try this recipe


  • Rajma:1 cup
  • Onion:1big
  • tomato:1 big
  • Ginger garlic paste/Inji veluthulli :2 tspn
  • Coriander powder/Mallipodi:.1 tspn
  • Chilly powder:2 tspn
  • Garam masala:1tspn
  • Cumin seeds/jeeraklam:1/4 tspoon
  • Kasthuri methi:1/2 tspoon
  • Cinnamom/Patta:small piece
  • Cardamom/elakkay :1 
  • Clove/Grampoo :1
  • Green chilly:2
  • Coriander leaves
  • oil
  • salt


  • Wash and soak Rajma in enough water foor 10,12 hours and cook it in pressure cooker by using the same water you used for soaking.Keep it in low flame for 20 minutes.While cooking you can add salt
  • Chop onion and tomatoes finely
  • Heat a pan and add oil
  • Saut onion with cinnamon,clove and cardamom
  • Then add tomato and green chilly saut it for a minute and allow all the things blend together
  • Now add ginger garlic paste.Saut it well for a minute
  • Add coriander powder,chilly powder ,garam masala and cumin seeds
  • Then grind all the things by using a mixer grinder.Make it in to fine paste
  • heat a kadai and add the cooked rajma together with remaining water
  • Add ground masala  to the kadai mix it well with the rajma
  • Add kasthuri methi and coriander leaves
  • If you need gravy add 1 cup of water and adjust the salt .Cook it for 5 minute
  • Rajma masala is ready
