Chicken biriyani(Tamilnadu style)

Chicken biriyani(Tamilnadu style)

Ingredients:


  • Chicken:1/2 kg
  • Basmati rice:3 cup
  • Garlic cloves:20
  • Ginger:30gm
  • Onion:3 big
  • Tomato:2
  • Green chilly:2
  • Chilly powder:1tspn
  • Turmeric powder:1/4 tspn
  • Cinnamon/patta:1 big piece
  • Clove/grampoo:4
  • Cardamom/elakka:4
  • Star anise/thakkolam:2
  • Bay leaves:2
  • Coriander leaves: handful
  • Mint leaves: handful
  • Curry leaves:2 springs
  • Coconut milk:1 cup
  • Lemon juice:1tspn
  • Coconut milk : 1 cup
  • Water: 3.5cup
  • Oil:1/4 cup
  • Ghee:1/4 cup
  • Dalda:2 tspn(optional)

Method:


  • Wash and soak basmati rice for 30 minutes.Drain and keep it aside.
  • Marinate chicken pieces with salt and few drops of lemon juice.
  • Grind ginger and garlic together and keep it aside.
  • Heat pressure cooker with ghee, oil and dalda(if you are using).
  • Add crushed cinnamon,cloves,cardamom,star anise, and bay leaves.
  • Add onion and sauté it well.
  • Add tomato slices and sauté it again.
  • Add ginger garlic paste sauté it again and wait for few seconds .
  • Add coriander leaves, mint leaves and curry leaves.
  • Add green chilly, chili powder, turmeric powder and salt
  • Add marinated chicken pieces.Mix it well with all other ingredients.
  • Close the pressure cooker with a plate and keep it in low flame for 10 minutes.
  • Now add basmati rice and stir well.Add lemon juice.
  • Add coconut milk and water.Stir well.
  • Close the pressure cooker and place the weight.
  • Wait for one whistle in high flame.
  • Switch off the flame and let cooker cool down.
  • Serve it hot.
ps:This measurement is enough to serve for 4 to person
