Thakkali parippu kootan / Tomato dal cury

Again with a veg side dish.It will go well with rice or even with roti.




Ingredients : 

Tomato : 2
Chana dal : 1/4 cup
Turnmeric powder : 1/2 tspn
Green chilly : 2

To grind :

  • Grated cococnut : 3/4 cup
  • Shallots / small onion : 4
  • Cumin seed / jeera : 1/4 tspn

To temper :

  • Mustard : 1/2 tspn
  • Dry red chilly : 2
  • Curry leaves : few
  • Oil

Method :


  • Grind all the ingredients together listed under "to grind"
  • Pressure cook both dal and tomato with green chilly,turmeric powder and salt.

  • Mix the ground paste with cooked dal tomato gravy.
  • Now heat a pan with oil.Add mustard.Let it splutter.
  • Now add dry red chilly and curry leaves.
  • Pour it to the gravy and mix it well
  • Yummy curry is ready to serve!
