Veg burger

Veg burger



I love burgers..It was in my to do list for many years.Actually I never saw lettuce and celery whenever going to the markert or super markets.Finally I decided to try it with available materials.Believe me the burger was just like store bought one:).
Here I used peas carrot and potatos for making patties .You may use veggies of your choice.You may add nuts corn mushrooms or anything of your choice.I felt this combo of peas potato and carrot  is good and tasted just like store bought one.
You may use garam masala instead of amchoor powder.But I strongly recommend Amchur powder :)

Really we all enjoyed it with french fries and sauce :)

Ingredients :

For patties :

  • Boiled Potato : 1
  • Cooked green peas : 1/4 cup
  • Carrot chopped : 1 small
  • Onion chopped : 1 small
  • garlic chopped : 4 cloves
  • Rice flakes / poha / Aval : 1/4 cup 
  • Maida : 1 tspn
  • Coriander leaves chopped : 1 tblspn

Spice powders :

  • Chilly flakes : 1 tspn
  • Amchur powder : 1/2 tspn
  • Pepper powder : A pinch
  • Turmeric powder : 1/4 tspn
  • Salt

Batter :

  • Maida : 1/4 cup
  • Corn flour : 3 tblspn
  • Water

For assembling :

  • Burger bun : 4
  • Butter
  • Tomato sauce
  • Mayonnise
  • Lettuce leaves (I didnt use)
  • Cabbage / celery
  • Onion rings
  • Cheese slice : 4

Other things required :

  • Bread crumbs : As required(Remove the edges of bread and powder it in a mixer )
  • Oil 

Method :

  • Heat a pan with oil.
  • Add in chopped garlic and onion.Now add in spice powders.
  • Mix it well and add cooked and mashed potato.
  • Now add in cooked peas and carrot.(I have cooked both together)
  • Add salt and mix it well.
  • Soak rice flakes in water for 10 minutes .Squeeze the water and add to the pan.Add in maida too
  • Mix all the ingredients together. and add in chopped coriander leaves too.
  • The patty masala should be thick.

  • Let it cool
  • Meanwhile make a batter with maida corn flour and  water.The batter should be like dosa batter.
  • Make small balls with the potato masala and press gently.Yea just like cutlet :)
  • Remember to check the bun size and patty size.Patty size should be equal to the bun size.
  • Now dip the patties in to the batter and dip in the bread crumbs
  • Now deep fry each patties 
  • Drain it and keep aside.

Arranging the burger:

  • Slit the bun in to two.
  • Grease some butter and toast it.
  • Now spread mayonnise  then spread little tomato sauce.
  • Place celery/coriander leaves over it.

  • Place chopped cabbage/ lettuce etc
  • Now keep the patty onion ring etc.You may place one tomato ring also.
  • Spread some sauce and now place the cheese slice also.
  • Cover it with another half of burger bun greased with mayonnaise.
  • Yummy burger is ready to serve.

  1. Not a bread person, please hand over the potato patty. I love it. Just the patty will be also great as a side for rice. Loved.
